In the Leeway

In the Leeway is a series of experimental self portraits. The images begin with shadows or silhouettes which are overlaid in Photoshop with collage, watercolor or other photographs. This process, with its lack of intentionality, grants permission to stray, to drift off course: what begins as one image quickly becomes another, constrained only by the need to create visual unity. I can see a parallel between this improvisational work and my present life. I’m past the age of sixty now, in the wide open expanse of retirement but still working on the idea of balance.
