Artist books: Under Construction/Deconstructions and Remains
These portraits of buildings were shot in the vicinity of Shenandoah, Pennsylvania. My intention was to create a photographic elegy; a meditation on the way history has altered the surfaces of these buildings and heightened our awareness of the impermanence of the present. Boarded shut, these buildings stand as artifacts; their brick and shingles holding on to the past as the forces of nature, sometimes aided by a wrecking crew, deconstruct them.
